Hot Cocoa Recipe

I take all the ingredients, and I put in a plastic storage bin that are generally used for leftovers. You want this to be able to hold about 5 cups or about 1.2 liters.

Ingredients:

  • Droste Cocoa (1 cup)
  • White Sugar (1 cup)
  • Powdered Milk (1 cup)

**Special note: I have altered the recipe to be 1/2 cup of sugar and then made up the other 1/2 cup between the Droste Cocoa and the powdered milk. Sometimes I will do the other half cup of additional Droste Cocoa. Really depended on my mood for how I used that other half cup with the lower sugar level. In total, the overall is 3 cups between the three ingredients.

Instructions:

  • Add whichever portion you want to the storage canister you have decided to use. The size is a bit larger, as you will need room to mix the ingredients.
  • For the cocoa and the powdered milk, I will use a sieve of some kind to remove the chunks that can happen. You want to do the same with the sugar.
  • Once all the ingredients are in the canister, I will mix them up with the fork/spoon I am using and will take that time to remove more chunks of cocoa or powdered milk.
  • Close the canister and then put on your favorite music (make sure lid is on secure) and then shake the canister to mix it more. Turn it all directions. I will usually do this about 5 minutes – so about 2 songs.

To make hot cocoa (based off my 24 oz mug as a serving):

  • I use whole milk, which I will heat on medium stovetop temperature. Use a spatula to mix the milk from time to time as it heats. Want the milk warm enough to mix the cocoa mix into the milk
    • If you want to add extra flavor, use Earl Grey Tea bag (or two) in the milk as it heats up. This will infuse the Earl Grey tea flavor into the milk and make a fun flavor for your hot cocoa experience
  • About 1/4 cup of the cocoa mix should be added to the milk (I like it more cocoa-y, so I personally add more) and mix. The mix will create chunks in the milk, which you can break up with the spatula as you mix it into the milk.
  • Stir the mix into the milk until at the desired temperature.
  • Pour into your mug
  • Add whipped cream, rainbow stick sprinkles, and any other fun things to make your hot cocoa experience fun
  • Enjoy the hot cocoa
